Bas + A$AP Ferg – “Boca Raton”
Dreamville’s very own Bas (labelmates of fellow talented artists Ari Lennox and J. Cole) follows up his latest single and visual for “Pinball II” in some style, joining forces with A$AP Ferg on the new colourful single “Boca Raton”.
No surprise hearing that this latest cut was produced by Soulection‘s Sango, known for his latin infused production and tropically inspired masterpieces. Named after the popular Florida beach town, it’s a high-energy, breezy record that will fit nicely into your warm-weather playlist; not only because of its tropical beat, but because of the lyrics about summer love and not wanting to be tied down.
The lyric video could be, for some, good enough to be a music video in itself as it features a fly older looking gentleman enjoying a bottle of the finest by the pool. It’s unclear if “Boca Raton” is a standalone cut or if it’ll appear on an upcoming full-length project but we can be sure that there is one in the pipeline and it is coming real soon
St. Vincent – “Fast Slow Disco”
Indie-pop, guitar-queen musician St. Vincent has just unveiled the music video for her track “Fast Slow Disco“.
The track is an upbeat, pop remix of her song “Slow Disco” out of her last album Masseduction. The original version had a heart-tearing, gut-wrenching melody accompanied by a violin base and St. Vincent’s smooth and delicate vocals.
The lyrics are a self-deprecating look into today’s relationship and the feeling of being disconnected from your partner, with St Vincent aptly singing “Am I thinking what everybody’s thinkin’?/I’m so glad I came, but I can’t wait to leave/Slip my hand from your hand/Leave you dancin’ with a ghost”.
The American singer, whose last album was received with a general critical consent despite St. Vincent’s departure from her more rock-infused previous work, has decided to remix the track and rename it “Fast Slow Disco”. She worked on it with the Bleachers’ Jack Antonoff, who has produced her album Masseduction as well as Lorde‘s Melodrama.
The video shows St. Vincent in black leather pants dancing in a gay club, surrounded by a crowd of men. The song is a pop jam, with the singer providing some great falsetto in the chorus. The concept of the video is very simple, yet the aesthetic serves some great lightening game.

Laura White + Ms Banks – “Heartbreaker”
Manchester’s soulful songbird Laura White returns to the fray with her first effort of 2018, following her impressive EP The Painted Door with fresh new single “Heartbreaker” featuring one of the hottest rappers in the UK right now, Ms Banks.
“Heartbreaker” is a smooth slice of modern R&B featuring Laura’s bold trademark vocal finesse. Produced by ProducerWez and Shakaveli from Naughty Boy‘s camp, “Heartbreaker” is the R&B throwback that we have wanted for so long, taking inspiration from legendary group 112‘s anthemic hit “Only You” to create a brand new vibe that is ready for the radio.
Speaking on the track, Laura says “’Heartbreaker‘ is one of my favourite tracks that I’ve written so far and collaborating with Ms Banks was amazing. Working alongside producers Wez and Shakaveli at Naughty Boy’s camp has been so much fun. They’re incredible producers, and the whole process was so organic! I can’t wait to perform it live at my upcoming gigs.”
Writing for world renowned artists have allowed her to really hone in on her skills, lending her talent to Paloma Faith, Rudimental and notably on Charles Hamilton’s Grammy nominated “New York Raining“. Jaden Smith – “Ghost”
Jaden Smith‘s rise in music has been nothing short of monumental as he makes a name for himself aside his family ties; his 2017 critically acclaimed SYRE was just the start. Jaden returns today with a visual for his brand new song “Ghost“.
In the short music video, he walks around the lit up streets of night time Tokyo with a group of tight, eccentric friends and makes a bold sartorial message as he flexes with his real designer hypebeast garments and fake Monopoly money. And of course, he causes quite an impression on the locals as they watch the action.
It is unsure whether the SYRE follow-up will feature on SYRE: The Electric Album, set for release on July 8 or, as teased in the description box for the video, will feature on upcoming project ERYS, a backwards spelling of SYRE. All we know is that there is definitely some new music to look forward to very soon.
Taeyeon – “Something New”
Girls Generation‘s leading member, Taeyeon has released a new music video for “Something New” from her new EP of the same name.
“Something New” is a Korean neo-urban pop track, which is something she’s never tried before. The song speaks on the idea that we should all just do what we want and be the way we are. This sees her return to solo music once again since the release of This Christmas back in December 2017.
The music video stars a sorrowful Taeyeon hopping out of the limousine and walks onto the red carpet and enters a hotel while she is crying. She enters in an elevator and tries to kill a pair of boys with a hammer.

Emiko – “Is It Real”
Introducing 22-year old West London singer and songwriter EMIKO, with his brand new single titled “Is It Real“. Highly recommended if you like Daniel Ceasar, Ray BLK, and DVSN, and with a velvety smooth, beautiful and piercing voice, an infectious artistic personality, and undeniable storytelling and songwriting skills, Emiko is the fast-rising new UK R&B power voice you will fall in love with this year.
Produced by South London musician Hilts and his frequent Turtle Basement collaborator Monks, and taken from Emiko’s forthcoming debut EP to be released in the autumn, “Is It Real” is a smooth Jazz-esque R&B opus, backed by lush piano arrangements and exquisite horns, over which Emiko’s glorious vocal dexterity comes to the forefront, as he sings about finding freedom in love. In his own words, “it is about wanting to feel love, provide love and portray a real image of love”.
Speaking about how “Is It Real” came about and its inspiration, Emiko says the record “came about very spontaneously. My friend Hilts had sent me the instrumental and once I heard it, something really touched me. I knew I wanted to sing about love, but I let my subconscious decide what kind, by just putting pen to paper, and writing what I felt. I’m singing to a girl, who is kind of hesitant to leave a toxic relationship behind, where love is non-existent, and I’m asking her to trust in me to show her what true love feels like – freedom”.
