Mukuka Chitundu Musonda, also known professionally as Mukuka or Mukuka GG, born November 2, 2000, is an emerging R&B/pop singer, songwriter, and performer hailing from Lusaka, Zambia. With the help and support of her high school friends, she started a YouTube channel where she uploaded covers of popular songs, gaining recognition and building a commendable follower base. This success inspired her to explore creating original music.
During her time in high school, Mukuka performed her YouTube covers at various events, including an International Round Square Conference at CTICC (South Africa, 2017), which was a significant accomplishment for her at the time. She later pursued studies in Architecture at university.
Her debut single, “Secret” featuring 4everoasis, produced in collaboration with LNSTHEPRODUCER (formerly known as Lusako Nthakomwa), was released on June 14, 2021, and has garnered over a thousand streams on Spotify and Apple Music. Since then, Mukuka has released several singles, an EP, and collaborated with various artists.
Her latest project, the album Aftermath (Deluxe), features original tracks that have accumulated over 6,000 streams on Spotify and 1,000 plays on Apple Music. To date, Mukuka has amassed over 175,000 all-time streams and has been featured on 1,300 playlists on Spotify alone.
Mukuka latest album, Aftermath (Deluxe), takes listeners on an emotional journey through love, heartbreak, and self-discovery. The album showcases Mukuka’s growth as an R&B/pop artist, blending personal storytelling with soulful melodies that resonate deeply.
The opening track, “Para Ti”, sets the tone with sensational vibes, where Mukuka vividly expresses the intoxicating grip of love. She bares her soul, metaphorically naked, having given everything to her partner—body, soul, and trust. This vulnerability carries through tracks like “Deeper” and “I Need U”, where she explores themes of devotion and longing, each lyric dripping with emotional depth.
However, the album takes a poignant turn with “Secret”, delving into the complexities of a toxic relationship. Mukuka confronts the conflict of being kept a secret, juxtaposing her worth against the painful realization of being played. This narrative thread continues in “Rain on Me”, post-breakup, where she wrestles with lingering emotions and the haunting memories of lost love.
In “Pretty Bird”, Mukuka reaches a breaking point, navigating sleepless nights and the struggle to let go. This track showcases her introspective journey towards self-acceptance and empowerment, culminating in a heartfelt plea for freedom and validation.
“No Signal” and “ALT (Love & Hate)” further deepen the album’s narrative arc, exploring themes of nostalgia and acceptance. Mukuka’s introspective lyrics and soulful delivery resonate profoundly, capturing the universal experience of love’s complexities and personal growth.
Throughout Aftermath (Deluxe), Mukuka GG’s vocals are a standout, channeling influences from icons like Beyoncé and Tina Turner while infusing her unique style and perspective. Her ability to blend vulnerability with strength makes each track a compelling listen, drawing listeners into her personal journey of love, loss, and resilience.
Overall, Aftermath (Deluxe) is a testament to Mukuka’s evolution as an artist, showcasing her potential to inspire and connect with audiences globally. With over 175,000 streams and counting, Mukuka is poised to leave a lasting impact on the R&B/pop music scene, solidifying her as an emerging talent to watch.
