Dr. Dre + Kendrick Lamar + Jeremih – “2Nite”:
What an epic collaboration! An unreleased Dr. Dre song has made its way to the internet, with rising R&B star Jeremih on the hook and Kendrick Lamar assisting him on the verses. It is uncertain from which project the track comes from but rumours say it is intended to show up on Dr. Dre’s long awaited album Detox. “2Nite” is a classy Hip Hop tune, but also has a high potential to be played on radio. Chris Baio – “Brainwash Yyrr Face”:
Baio (the name Vampire Weekend’s Chris Baio uses for his solo dance music) recently announced his album The Names, which he said would feature “Bowie and Ferry influenced pop songs and dumbsmart arena techno“. He has now shared a track from the album tiled “Brainwash Yyrr Face”, which you can listen to below. In a press release Baio spoke about his upcoming album, which is named after Don DeLillo’s 1982 novel, saying “its themes began to take shape when I moved from New York to London in 2013. Today I’m delighted to share the first track of a record that I think is pretty tight!“. The album is set to be released on September 18 this year.
Mista Silva – “Goes Down”:
Taken off his latest EP – Let It Off, Mista Silva has released the official video to his latest single “Goes Down”. The people’s favourite, “Goes Down” which was produced by< strong>NA is a dancehall influenced track with the uplifting vibes of traditional Ghanaian music interlaced into it. The visuals features Mista Silva alongside some friends, having fun and dancing on a rooftop on a cool summer evening in London. “Goes Down” is definitely set to be a summer anthem, watch and enjoy “Goes Down” down below…
Jason Derulo + Jennifer Lopez – “Try Me”:
It seems like whatever Jason Derulo releases new music, it always has that special melody that keeps getting stuck in your head. This is also the case with his new single “Try Me “he just unleashed, featuring Jennifer Lopez. The Latina Pop singer drop some hot lyrics to the production from Matoma as they throw very obvious pick-up lines at each other. The summery track is another single from Derulo’s album Everything Is 4 that will be released on June 4. Listen to it here.
Disclosure + Gregory Porter – “Holding On”:
The comeback of Disclosure is here as Annie Mac just premiered their new single “Holding On” on her BBC Radio 1 show. With “Holding On” featuring Jazz singer Gregory Porter, the British Lawrence brothers have unveiled their first official single since their debut album Settle in 2013. With a mixture of Porter’s vocals and Disclosure’s house-tunes, they have created a perfect and catchy club anthem. The single is on the sophomore album of the duo, which is set to be released before 2016. Listen to it here.
Flume – “Some Minds”:
The new song from Flume, “Some Minds” features lyrics and vocals from Andrew Wyatt, vocalist for Sweedish Indie pop band Miike Snow. The video, which was premiered via Pitchfork, is beautifully haunting as the camera floats around the Sydney Opera House after hours. Flume advised in a press release, “It was humbling to be able to make something in a building so iconic. Being inside the Sydney Opera House filming overnight with no one in the building, it was quite eerie, the place has so much character. The director Clemens [Habicht] really nailed what I wanted to achieve in getting a balance between the real and synthetic, he has a great eye… Maybe it’s a love letter to Sydney“. KIOKO – “Deadly Roots”:
Introducing multi-cultural Birmingham band KIOKO with the brand new video for their latest single “Deadly Roots”, which is taken from their latest EP True What You Say. The hard-hitting documentary styled visuals showcase how the band use strong lyrics and rhythmic melodies to tell a message that fits in with today’s ever changing society as they explain themselves, “people are very aware of what’s going in the world and Deadly Roots is about being respectful to others“.
With support from BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephen and Huey Morgan on BBC Radio 2, KIOKO are coming with an intriguing sound that tries to fuse Soulful Pop, with Reggae, Jazz and Ska, but also will get your head bopping and your mind going, “Deadly Roots” tries to reach all its listeners, with its new school ballad and old school themes, message to big city workers and heavy cultural musical influences.
The Cribs – “Orange Star Rattle”:
The Cribs have shared the B-Side to their upcoming single “Different Angle” titled “Orange Star Rattle”. The group released their sixth album For All My Sisters back in March and the second single “Different Angle” is due to be released on June 1. The band spoke to DIY Magazine about the track and explained: “We have always believed that B-sides are a really important part of our output as a band. They are frequently held up as favourites by our die-hard fans, so we have always made every effort to make sure that each of our single releases are accompanied by brand new tracks“.
