It’s a classic tale of romance. Girl meets boy, boy is handsome, but so way under her league, her parents hate it and her friends can’t stand it, but she is in love and they are having the time of their lives, so who cares? Straight out the pages of countless Nora Roberts, Sidney Sheldon and Danielle Steel books we’ve all read, is the beautiful new single from sultry British Nigerian singer and songwriter Ebisan titled “Time Of Our Lives” which features equally fantastic singer Chee, formerly known as “Chidynma D’Voice”.
Backed by a David Guetta-esque EDM musical milieu produced by DJ Cleff, “Time Of Our Lives” is not what you would typically expect from Ebisan but when you get over the initial surprise, you can’t but laud the songstress for her dynamism and versatility. Whether on a Soft Rock/Alternative production as on her previous records or on a Dance beat such as this one, Ebisan seems to be on flying form as she flaunts her glorious voice and amazing vocal prowess. Buoyed by a beautiful and very fitting guest performance from Chee, who is certainly no push-over as far as vocalists go – you would expect nothing less from an artist who used to be known as “D’Voice”, and what you get is a lush chemistry-fuelled Pop/Dance number filled with plenty of soul.
“For those who want to love with all their heart regardless of what others say, for those who know what’s real and what truly counts and finally for those who want to have the time of their lives!” – Ebisan
Ebisan is certainly not a newbie on the music landscape, she released her debut single “What Women Want” in the UK in 2006 to critical acclaim and rave reviews – nestling in the top 20 of the UK Gospel Single Chart for three months. She moved back to Nigeria in 2008 after gaining a Masters Degree in International Business Management and shortly after, was afforded the opportunity of contributing to the original soundtrack of acclaimed film Tango With Me starring Genevieve Nnaji and Joseph Benjamin, with “Suru” and “Dance With Me”.
“Time Of Our Lives” is her third official single released in Nigeria, following her 2011 debut “Love Story” and “Jowo” in 2012, and its recently released accompanying video sees Ebisan collaborating with director Mr Ak One for a third time. Although the visuals don’t exactly do the single much justice, it is still quite a cute spectacle. Ebisan who clearly enjoys acting – having played the love interest for fellow musician Dipo in his “Selense” music video and also a character in Nosa’s video for “Always Pray For You” – looks stunning in the visuals, and so does Chee. These beautiful ladies, independently and collectively, give renewed hope to the Nigerian Music industry which has strongly lacked in sustainable female presence over the years.
Ebisan who has confessed to “being fascinated by love and all the emotions linked to it” is currently working on her debut album, which we are anxiously waiting for as it promises to be a brilliant body of work from this effortlessly beautiful and versatile singer and songwriter.
