Riding the wave from her critically acclaimed EP E.D.G.E which was released last month via Billboard, rising North London Hip-Hop artist Little Simz has just unveiled brand new visuals for her laid back track “The Hamptons” which really does keep the heat rising with a perfectly constructed combination of British & American brilliance. For “The Hamptons”, Little Simz has teamed up with Canadian producer Da-P (Soulection), and directing geniuses We Shoot People from the Topshelf Company have helped create such a perfectly imperfect video for this hard working 20 year old who really is doing her own thing in music and doing it better than most.
“The Hamptons” is a highlight from her independently released Every. Day. Gets. Easier (E.D.G.E) project and the video accentuates the free spirit nature of the song, it sits as quite a simple and straight forward video that allows the viewer to really focus on the music which, lets face it, is what Little Simz is all about. The summertime ready music video also features cameos from Kali Uchis and Ricky Bricks, aka US production duo THC.
Her E.D.G.E EP follows on from the release of Simz fourth mixtape Blank Canvas, of which was a massive stepping stone for her as it is a huge part of why she has escalated to the heights she has now entered. The mixtape was premiered on Jay Z’s Life & Times website last year and garnered Simz the first slice of global accolades she has received over the past few months. She has so far gone on to perform at SXSW Festival 2014 and the recent Canadian Music Week, as well as being tipped as one to watch by the likes of Noisey, Myspace, The Independent, i-D Magazine, Dazed and Confused, and Myspace.
Not only that but Little Simz, who is often nicknamed the ‘Princess of Rap’, recently made it onto the XXL ’15 European Rappers You Should Know’ list and will be performing at the Reading & Leeds Festival in August, which just shows how things have been sky rocketing for the 20-year old North Londoner. With Little Simz keeping the heat rising, with release after release, there is no wonder the future is looking so bright for her, as she ventures to become “one of the world’s great achievers“, and with the way things are going, I’m sure it wont be long before we see her kicking it in The Hamptons as she predicts. However no matter how big she gets, I’m sure Simz will always remain a North Londoner at heart. Watch the visuals for “The Hamptons” below.
