British Soul singer/songwriter Diane Nadia Adu-Gyamfi or better known by her stage name MOKO is back and ready to tear the place up, along with her outrageously big, bold and beautiful pigtails of course! You may remember MOKO from the Chase and Status song “Count On Me” which was released last year, from seeing her tour with the guys and performing to massive crowds of fans, and winning over tastemakers, critics and well basically everyone that is anyone in the music business.
Now Will and Saul (aka Chase and Status) are returning the favour to MOKO in the studio, with the incredible results being Moko’s new single titled “Your Love“, which is taken from her highly anticipated forthcoming EP Gold, set to be released on August 24th along with the “Your Love” single. Gold is the long-awaited follow-up project from her critically acclaimed 2013 Black EP via MTA Records and Virgin EMI.
On the new record, MOKO certainly has not lost the distinct and unique sound that we love so much about her. The EP’s lead single “Your Love” is over flowing with MOKO’s trademark bass-pounding 90s style Soul and House vibes which all intertwine together so perfectly, and of course the song accentuates her beautiful soulful vocals, but then again there was never any doubt about whether this girl could sing. Visually, MOKO looks amazing in “Your Love” as she exudes confidence and a certain magnetism all over the screen, plus who knew MOKO was such an expressive dancer?
The new EP is a combination of four brand new tracks that engage in MOKO’s highly intricate genre mix up as she collaborates with Two Inch Punch, Kwes, The Imposters from her Black EP and of course Chase & Status who produced “Your Love”. MOKO describes the mixture of sounds on the new EP as of “fun, energy, captivation, and colour”, and once you have heard “Your Love”, the video for which premiered on VEVO today, you will get a true understanding for the rest of the EP and get a glimpse of where MOKO is heading, which is quite clearly only one direction – UP!
