Here are our favourite releases of the week, ending December 14. Enjoy them below.
CMC$ + Juliette Claire – “Wish”
Here a good piece of loud electronic music coming from the Netherlands. Amsterdam based CMC$ has recruited fellow Dutch singer Juliette Claire to perform some sweet sounding vocals to accompany his epic new epic track titled “Wish”. Taking big influences from the trap music scene which is currently thriving in Holland, the track has very heavy layers of synth which drop in and between Juliette’s calm pop lyrics. The track is over three minuets long but it appears much shorter as you long to hear that big snyth sound again as the track slowly fades out. “Wish” has been made available for free download on Soundcloud, listen below.
Subculture Sage – “Chances”
An early Christmas present from London’s alternative Hip-Hop duo Subculture Sage. If you hadn’t heard of the twosome before, then new track “Chances” is a brilliant introduction; an addictive, childish, floating beat with some brilliant lyrics spoken over the top. It’s like opening an old music box and feeling the joy that such an act would once bring, along with a clever description of Love and how to find it. The new track has been made available for free download from the duos’ Facebook page. Listen to “Chances” below.
Fleur East – “Uptown Funk”
After performing a cover version of Mark Ronson’s song “Uptown Funk” which features Bruno Mars on Saturday night’s X Factor, Fleur East has hit the top spot in the iTunes chart. It was said that people were so thrilled by her performance that it was being downloaded continuously throughout the performance. It looks like the X Factor finalist is all set for the big time, as X Factor judge Simon Cowell told her, “let this moment sink in because this is the moment that you went from a contestant to a star. The performance also earned her a standing ovation. View Fleur East’s performance of Uptown Funk below.
Daniel Wilson – “Proofread”
23 year old Detroit newcomer Daniel Wilson is back with a new track titled “Proofread”, taken from his The Boy Who Cried Thunder EP which is out now and boy, is this track a kaleidoscopic, mesmerizing number! His vocals are so effortless, easily reaching those smooth falsettos in the backdrop of electronica. If you thought previous tracks “If You Went Away”, “Heartbreaker” and “Killed Ya” were special, believe me, this guy just get’s better and better! Sit back and bask in this damn smooth, vocal olympics of a song titled “Proofread”, it will leave you breathless!
