Naughty Boy + Section Boyz – “140 Man At Ya Door”:
Right now, these boyz are making the most noise in the UK rap scene with they’re unique rap flows. After releasing a banging mixtape titled Sectionly, South London rap collective Section Boyz have come together with chart topping producer Naughty Boy to create more vibes for you and you only. The two sources of music are completely different, however the way they collaborated has worked better than expected, furthermore expressing the extent of flexibility and creativity of both artists. The track “140 Man At Ya Door” features visuals, premiered on GRM Daily. The work rate of the Section Boyz is ridiculous as they have featured on tracks with different artist, genres and styles in the past few months, but are somehow still bringing it to their unique defining sound. Giggs – “Who’s Dat”:
The man who brought UK RAP to a mainstream audience with his classic “Talking The Hardest” is back with another epic track. SN1 head honcho Giggs, seems to be on a roll this year from featuring on tracks with Dizzee Rascal and JME, to collaborations with artists in his rap collective, SN1. “Punani” was a hit for the underground rap scene upon release, the track features fellow SN1 artist Kyze, who has recently returned to his rap career after a short break. The video for Giggs’ new single “Who’s Dat” featured a short film at the beginning starring Chip and Jammer among others, which then transitions to Giggs doing what he does best over a dirty 808 beat. Dej Loaf + Young Thug – “Shawty”:
XXL freshman from Detroit, Dej Loaf, has released another track, titled “Shawty” featuring Young Thug. Even though the Young Roc-produced track has a quite melodic sound, the content is rather explicit and pretty provocative (“Can’t nobody get this p***y wet yo / And cant nobody f**k me like you can yo“). As if this hasn’t been enough of a successful year for Dej already, she is planning to release her new EP real soon, while Young Thug has previously announced to release his mixtape Slime Season next month. Listen to Shawty here.
Tink – “I Like”:
THINK TINK! Earlier this morning, we saw the Chicago’s own Tink’s long awaited XXL Freshmen freestyle and profile video which displayed her as beast as she showed both her talents as a rapper and a singer. Now hours later, she is back giving us even more by dropping off her new track produced by C-sick titled “I Like”. One thing about Tink is that we know she can spit at the drop of a hat, but on her new track, we see more on the soulful side, as she mainly sings – we get to look much deeper in her mind with this soothing record. Have a listen below.
ILoveMakonnen – “Where Your Girl At”:
Atlanta-based rapper ILoveMakonnen, who had incredibly huge success with his single “Tuesday” featuring Drake) last year and released his new mixtape Drink More Water 5 not too long ago, refuses to be labelled a one-hit-wonder. Therefore he has released a new banger now, called “Where Your Girl At”. The track is produced by Richie Souf, and contains some very gritty vocals from Makonnen who starts every new verse with a loud ‘HUAAGH’. “Where Your Girl At” is indeed one of his more aggressive tunes, but it is still very worth listening to here.
Kwamz & Flava + Mista Silva – “Go Mad”:
Two of the best Afrobeats acts in the UK, Kwamz & Flava and Mista Silva get together for this new single titled “Go Mad”, produced by Kwamz himself. Released via Coast2Coast, “Go Mad” comes on the back of a stellar 2014 for London based duo Flava & Kwamz who released their DeYaaaa EP to critically acclaim, and whose single “Wo Onane No” was one of the biggest songs of the year last year. Will “Go Mad” be able to touch the dizzy heights of “Wo Onane No”? Who knows but the record is certainly a vibe, enjoy it below.
Courts – “Sanatana”:
Emerging Essex 5-piece band Courts have just unveiled new single “Sanatana”, which follows on from their latest record “Part Of” which was supported by Zane Lowe as his last ‘Next Hype’ record on BBC Radio 1 before his move to Apple. The band have also been championed by BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens, and Ally & Jen on BBC Introducing. Their new single “Santana” is being described as a cross between the likes of Mac De Marco, Stone Roses and The Streets, and inspired by Disco, Hip Hop and Indie, listen to the record below, and keep tabs on Courts here.
Tinashe – “Cold Sweat”:
Successful rising R&B artist Tinashe has unveiled the music video for her track “Cold Sweat”, from her debut album Aquarius from last year. The Stephen Garnett-directed visuals convey a pretty trippy atmosphere due to psychedelic special effects and some demented yet powerful dance moves of an all-natural make-up free Tinashe. Besides that, the video is created rather minimalistic. The singer-songwriter is already working on her sophomore album which will be released later this year. Watch the video for “Cold Sweat” here.
