BoatzMadeIT – “Informer”:
Currently working on his solo project, producer/artist, BoatzMadeIt has released his highly anticipated single “Informer”. Written and produced by BoatzMadeIT, “Informer” is a catchy tune with a great hook that addresses critics and informs the gossipers (who he refers to as informers in the song) of his intention to silence them with success. The fourth single to be released from BoatzMadeIT, “Informer” show his versatility as both an artist and producer. Res One – “International Traveler”:
Res One, of the Bristol based hip-hop crew Split Prophets, has released the music video for his track “International Traveler”, taken from his recent debut solo album, entitled Delph Efficiacy. The SP crew have been making huge amounts of noise for a number of years now, with an incredibly consistent work rate that has seen them gaining support and rocking stages from the UK to further afield, something that this track is a testament to, with Res appearing an a number of locations. Michl – “Kill Our Way To Heaven”:
In this day and age, audiovisual music blogs are turning rookie musicians into viral superstars in a blink of an eye. Michl certainly has this potential, as his debut track “Kill Our Way To Heaven” has made its way onto multiple channels yesterday featuring his fantastic sound.
This brand spanking new unique artist from California offers a delicate electronic sound with a thumping beat, combined with his emotionally moving lyrics. There’s an underlying sense of passion beneath it all, which is just bursting to explode out. A very impressive debut track indeed! It will be interesting to see what comes next for Michl, but I have confidence in his ability to make himself at home within the electronic music scene. The 1975 – “Love Me”:
Earlier this month, The 1975 seemed to transform into The 1985 with the Duran Duran-esque hit “Love Me”. Today, they treated fans to a satirical music video for this track. It looks as if that band have gone slightly loco as they party with cardboard cutouts of contrasting famous figures like Mr Bean, Harry Styles and Ed Sheeran with frontman Matt Healy spraying champagne around, seeming to mock the lavish lifestyle that comes with fame. Admittedly, Healy’s statement for the video doesn’t really explain a lot either, reading:
“With Love Me we wanted to capture the neon-hued enthralling acquisition of success and excess, the screaming momentum, the sexy daze. Everything is REDICULOUS! But, is it? The only art worth any investment is art that makes one feel personally addressed. A simple truth, or set of truths, that galvanises an awareness and passion within an individual and in doing so immerses the individual into a sense of shared experience and community founded upon that same personal connection or experience. Too many artists care what others think. We are for the ‘community’! A non-linear observation on everything that has been and what will become. A lack of understanding of the world we are living in. The post-ironic notion of the modern world. Selfie mythologizing. Creating how we consume. Fragments of culture. Not settling for what you’re given. WE’VE JUST COME TO REPRESENT A DECLINE IN THE STANDARDS OF WHAT WE ACCEPT”.
It’s pretty safe to say the tamer, bluer days of the band are gone but they’re back and more neon, sparkly and leather than ever. The track comes from their upcoming album I Like It When You Sleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It. Check out the crazy new video here.
Kassassin Street – “Talk In Riddles”:
Psychedelic indie-rock goes from breakthrough to breakthrough in this 1960s rejuvenating musical era and it’s artists like Kassassin Street carrying the genre to higher progressive levels. Circulating this track to the airwaves of Soundcloud, this slightly smoother track compared to their other singles offers listeners a more refined sound which is very easy to get lost in. However, not in a maze of confusion kind of way, but instead a trippy journey of true bliss. “Talk In Riddles” appears on their newest EP Radio Silence, which was released on the October 16. Cage The Elephant – “Mess Around”:
Cage The Elephant sure aren’t messing around with latest single “Mess Around”. Now working with the Black Keys’ maestro Dan Auerbach, the Kentucky rockers perform a sound not too dissimilar from the Blues-Rock present in their new producer’s music catalogue. As well as offering yet another fantastically catchy hook we’re used to from Cage The Elephant which I’ll be singing well into next week, distorted guitars, a thumping beat and a guitar solo from Auerbach also makes it into the track. The single will appear on new album Tell Me I’m Pretty due for release on the 18th of December.
The music video is compiled of clips from the Lobster collection catalog, which is an online database that covers 60 years of cinema – from 1895 to the 1960’s. This goldmine of quirky, obscure and retro classics add to the hectic nature of this beautifully chaotic number. Click below to hear “Mess Around”.
Moreone – “Turn Back”:
In The Balance Records, a new label founded by veteran UK MC Verb T, releases its first ever music video; “Turn Back” by Moreone. The track is also produced by T and features cuts from High Focus’ DJ Sammy B-Side. The song is taken from Moreone’s forthcoming EP, serving as the title track of the project. With Verb T’s excellent track record, both on the mic and the beats, In The Balance Records is definitely a label to keep a keen eye on. Check out the video below.
J Dilla – Dillatronic (Album):
Ahead of the release of J Dilla’s posthumous Dillatronic instrumental album on Friday (October 30), the album is now available for free streaming. Listen to the whole album via Pitchfork. Dillatronic features 41 previously unreleased beats from the legendary Hip Hop producer who tragically lost his life to a rare blood disease back in 2006 aged just 32.
The album has had its release come hrough the efforts of Dilla’s mother, Ma Dukes, and Vintage Vibez Music Group. It will be released in a variety of formats including a set of 3 LPs. In a statement made about the album, Dilla’s mother said, “I can smile in my heart, knowing my son’s work is being shared with the people as we planned before he passed. I only share the best, and I only hope to continue introducing the world to the genius of J Dilla”.
