British Alternative Rock quartet The Manic Shine are celebrating the success of their video release for their new single, “My Woman (I Love Nothing About You)” after it was released on April 6, 2012. The band’s latest single and video release comes just a few weeks after the band released their phenomenal debut album,Blindsider, which has proved immensely popular with fans and critics alike. The record was released in March via UK-based indie label The Animal Farm who had previously signed the band in November of last year after being involved in the release of The Manic Shine’s previously released self-titled debut EP.
The 4-piece band consists of lead singer and guitarist Ozzie Rodgers, bassistJames Hutchinson, Orren Karp (Guitar + Backing Vocals), and drummerTamir Karp, who holds a degree in Popular Music Performance. They label their genre as “metamorphic rock” which they describe as “progressive rock but not prog, indie stylings but no skinny jeans” and with varying musical influences fromJohn Mayer to Counting Crows to Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin, ACDCand Rage Against the Machine between all four members, The Manic Shine showcase that wide-ranging pallet for music excellently on their own records.
Brothers, Orren and Tamir were born in Israel to a Scottish mother and an Israeli father while Ozzie was raised in Dubai by his Syrian mother and his English-Italian-Hungarian father but the deeply rooted animosities between Israel and Syria have not deterred the band from coming together and thriving. The Manic Shinehave embraced these differences and shown that they can put their cultural differences aside in order to make some pretty amazing ‘cataclysmic’ music. It is individuals like these that define Britain as a multi-cultural society and it is bands like The Manic Shine that make British music exceptional.
