WPGM Reviews: Khruangbin Live At Eventim Apollo

There’s something special about a band that doesn’t just play music but creates a whole atmosphere – and that’s exactly what Khruangbin and their opener, Peter Cat Recording Co., brought to Eventim Apollo. It wasn’t just a concert; it was an experience.

Peter Cat Recording Co. came out with a laid-back yet engaging set. They’re an indie band from India with a sound that’s hard to pin down—think jazzy, dreamy, and a bit retro. On their ‘Good Luck Beta’ world tour, they delivered a mix of vibey tracks that had the audience gently nodding along.

When Khruangbin took the stage, it was clear they had something special planned. The stage design was simple but clever—three glowing windows, reflecting the minimalist style of their latest album, A La Sala. They started by playing the album straight through, which might sound risky, but it worked. The dreamy, hypnotic vibe kept everyone hooked.

The closing track of the album, “Les Petit Gris,” was a standout moment. As the band played, the windows showed a rainstorm that built into a full-blown thunderstorm, matching the song’s growing intensity. It felt more like a piece of art than just a song. Later, tracks like “Evan Finds the Third Room” and “Time (You and I)” shifted the mood into full party mode. The crowd was clapping, dancing, and even copying the goofy dance moves from the “Evan” music video. It was pure fun.

Khruangbin let the music do most of the talking. They don’t chat much during their sets, but their smooth, choreographed movements on stage were enough to draw you in. The mix of hypnotic, chill tracks and funky, high-energy ones created a balance that kept the night interesting. Tracks like “Mr. White” even included fresh live arrangements, giving fans something new to enjoy.

The show felt like a dream you didn’t want to wake up from. Khruangbin proved how much you can do with just three musicians—their sound filled the room effortlessly, and every moment felt thoughtfully crafted. Peter Cat Recording Co. added a layer of charm to the night, making them an ideal opening act.

Whether you were there for the grooves, the visuals, or just the overall vibe, this concert had it all. Peter Cat Recording Co. set the tone beautifully, and Khruangbin delivered a performance that was both intimate and powerful. It’s rare to find a show that balances artistry with fun, but this was one of those nights where everything clicked.
